This is an exciting time in sports at South Amboy Middle High School. All of our teams played well throughout the fall season, and made progress in improving as the season went on. We are very proud of our fall teams, and we are looking forward to a great winter season.

Our Fall season produced some memorable moments and individual accolades. Our middle school soccer teams were strong in numbers and strong in effort this year. We are looking forward to many more successful Middle School seasons, and we wish the 8th grade players success as they march one season closer to high school. Our Girls Varsity Tennis team struggled at the outset, but finished the season 7-3 in their final 10 games to improve their record. Cross Country had several individual performances of note in both the GMC and NJSIAA championships. Cross Country was highlighted by Sophomore M. Walsh, finishing 28th out of a field of 140 in the GMCs and a top 15 finish at the state sectional meet. Our Boys and Girls Soccer Teams played well throughout the season. Sophomore goalie S. Knapik finished 2nd in the state, amassing an incredible 327 saves. Our boys team is led by an excellent group of upper and lower classmen. The boys played strong, advancing to the second round of the NJSIAA tournament.

Three South Amboy Fall Athletes received All Division honors as selected by the coaches in their respective sports. The recipients were: S. Knapik (Girls Soccer), N. Mihalechko (Boys Soccer), M. Walsh (XC).

We are looking forward to a strong winter season. The Middle School Cheer team has been working hard, and opened up with a great performance at the pep rally. Our Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams will compete in the GMC Gold Division once again. Our Middle School Basketball teams will be competing against schools throughout Middlesex County. Please come out and support the Governors this winter season.

Go Guvs!
