  • Question of the month for October: Which word describes a laundry basket and can mean to hinder or obstruct?
  • High school boys interested in playing basketball. There will be a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 3pm in the gym.
  • Student Council is conducting their annual Pie Sales! Order your delicious pies now in time for Thanksgiving. Student Council is also selling school apparel this week. Please see a student council member, Mr. Hughes, or Mrs. Smocovich to order Pies or School Clothing.
  • Attention Seniors, it's time to order senior sweatshirts. Money and order forms are due to Ms. Sherman by this Friday, Nov. 2nd.
  • There will be a short meeting today in the gym after school for high school girls interested in playing basketball.

  • All class of 2020 students selling Gertrude Hawk please have orders in by Thursday, November 1st. 

  • Attention: there is a curfew in town tonight. All students under 18 years old cannot be out in the community after 7:00 pm unless accompanied by a parent or guardian by order of the South Amboy Police Department.

  • The class of 2024 would like to thank everyone who came to support them at the fall festival on Friday. There were two winners for the guess the weight of the pumpkin. It weighed 19 pounds! The winners will be called today to pick up their prizes. Thank you again for your support!
  • Yearbook, there will be a meeting tomorrow, 10/30, after school in Mrs. Partenope's room.

  • Current 6th Graders! Today we will running Pumpkin Bowling for the SA Fall Festival. Please see Miss Vancil (room 438) or Ms. Grasso (room 437) to sign up and help out!
  • There will be a meeting today during first period of the School Safety Committee in the Media Center, only those students invited by Mrs Witte should attend.
  • Class of 2022: We will be having a brief class meeting this Monday, October 29th, after school in room 328. All Joe Corbi orders are due by Monday.
  • High school boys interested in playing basketball. There will be a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 3pm in the gym.
  • Class of 2024 if you signed up for the poke-a-pumpkin game, remember the fall festival is tonight from 6-9 pm.
  • Yearbook club if you signed up to take pictures of haunted hallway it is tonight from 6-9pm. See Mrs. Partenope.

  • The October meeting of the National Honor Society is after school today at 2:40 in room 103. All must attend.

  • Haunted Hallway is nearly here! This Friday night, come see the spooky transformation of the high school halls!
  • There will be a meeting of the school safety committee on Friday October 26 during period 1 in the media center. Only students who have been invited by Mrs Witte may attend.
  • Current 6th Graders! On Friday October 26th we will running Pumpkin Bowling for the SA Fall Festival. Please see Miss Vancil (room 438) or Ms. Grasso (room 437) to sign up and help out!
  • On Tuesday, the cross country team wrapped up its regular season by dominating Keansburg and Henry Hudson at Holmdel Park to finish with a 7-2 record. Captain Jack Lukie and freshman stars Rafael Albarran and Joe Jamolawicz secured the victory by placing 1,2,3 respectively. Seniors Spencer Kennedy and John McCleery both turned in good performances to round out the scoring while Charlie Smith continued his impressive string of races running a Holmdel PR. On the girl’s side, MaryAnn Walsh placed third with freshman Gwen Kennedy just over a minute and a half behind her. In her last race of the season Michelle Ajilowura outkicked 3 runners in the last 100 meters to complete her best race of the season. Congratulations to the team on a great regular season and good luck at Sectionals on November 3rd.

  • Congratulations to the four ladies who heard yesterday's announcement and showed up in Mr. G.'s office at the end of the day. Broadway Bagel breakfast next week!
  • The boys varsity team ended their home season with a 2-1 win yesterday over East Brunswick VT. Jo-el ,showing so much promise, scored early.Then Pocho sealed it with an awesome goal. Coach G., the Elder, thanks all who played.
  • Volunteers needed! Make some community service hours. Help out the PTO on Friday, 10/26/18, with pumpkin painting. If you are interested, stop by the main office today.

  • Middle School Dance tonight from 6-8pm! Make sure to enjoy some snacks beforehand at the Bake Sale near the Middle School entrance!

  • Today is Unity Day 2018. For those of you that wore Orange today, find someone that hasn’t. Someone new to your life that you can introduce Mr. G. to at the end of the day. 5,850 hours together, under the same roof, each school year. Let’s make them count.

  • Middle School Boys Soccer game against Highland Park today behind the school. Come out and support!

  • Ice Cream Bake Sale tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 25th, after school at the Middle School entrance! Chocolate? Vanilla? What’s YOUR favorite flavor?

  • Search your closets for anything ORANGE and wear it tomorrow, October 24th on Unity Day 2018. South Amboy Middle/High School will show our unity during Anti-Bullying Awareness Month by wearing Orange tomorrow!
  • The deadline to bring your Halloween Dance money in will be tomorrow, October 24th. We will not be accepting payment the day of the dance. Speak to your Middle School adviser if you have any questions!
  • Thank you to everyone who came out this past weekend to Paint The Town. Mr. G. thanks all of the students who added their style to the windows of the SA businesses. If you need a signature for community service hours, please see Mr. G.
  • The October meeting of the National Honor Society is Thursday, October 25th, at 2:40 in room 103. All must attend.
  • The boy's varsity soccer team had a win on Friday when six players netted goals. The first was Pocho; he had a hat trick. He was followed by five others with one goal each: Nathan, Jack Ryan, Captain Nick, Jo-el and Adam!!! . Our last game of the season will be against EBVT at home tomorrow,Wednesday.

  • Question of the month for October: Which word describes a laundry basket and can mean to hinder or obstruct?
  • Class of 2024 we will be having a meeting tomorrow Tuesday October 23 in Mrs. Partenope’s room (room 215). Also, don’t forget your dance money is due today along with your fundraiser forms.
  • On Saturday, the cross-country team had a big showing at the GMC championships held at Thompson Park. In the varsity race, senior captain Jack Lukie ran a PR of 18:03, while junior Abe Calderon crossed the line in 18:23. In the freshman race, Rafael Albarran took the 9th place medal in a very fast time of 19:05 while classmate Joe Jamolawicz ran his first official sub 20-minute 5K finishing in 19:54 which was good enough to bring home the 25th place medal. Senior Spencer Kennedy had his best race of the year finishing in 21:37 while Charlie Smith continued his string of PR runs lowering his time to 23:52. On the girls side, MaryAnn Walsh turned in a season PR of 22:21 and Guinevere Kennedy took home the second medal of her career by placing 15th in the freshman race in a PR time of 24:36.

  • Today all high school Health and Driver Education classes should report to the gymnasium at the beginning of their scheduled period.

  • The NJHS will be having their meeting today after school in the Media Center. Beach Clean Up Permission Slips are due today.

  • Any high school girl interested in playing basketball, there will be a short meeting right after school in the gym.
  • There will be Middle School Boys Soccer practice today at 3:15pm behind the school. If you can't make it, please see Mr. G.

  • Today we will adjust our periods. They will run as follows: 1,2,3,6,4,5,7,8. Middle School girls please report to the auditorium at the beginning of period one.
