  • The track team is off to a fast start this season and over the last week and a half has competed in two dual meets and one invitational. In the 400 meter hurdles, Bryan Pena in his first ever attempt at the event unofficially smashed the school record with a race winning performance of 1:04 against Dunellen, Bryan’s time is a full 5 seconds under the previous unofficial record and an amazing 10 seconds under the official school record. In the 100 and 200 meters, Nathan Vastey has turned in consistently fast performances with PRs of 13.4 and 27.5 respectively. In the girls 100 and 200 meters, Kamal Davis, Gabriella Grande, Michelle Ayilowura and Ciara Smocovich have performed well establishing several PRs and wining several races. Senior Nadia Barcheski has proven to be a versatile new member of the team and is among the top three performers on the team in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. Nashari Payano is having a very good season thus far with fast times in the 100 meters and the 400 meters including a race winning performance against Dunellen. In the 1600 meters (mile), Spencer Kennedy and Charlie Smith have each dropped at least 6 seconds off their season PRs between the two meets and freshman Gwen Kennedy continues to impress with two very fast performances including a season PR of 6:34. On Saturday April 6th, Senior captain Jack Lukie, Abe Calderon, Bryan Pena and freshman Rafael Albarran teamed up to run the 4x1600 meter relay at the Rebel Relays held at Howell High School.
