  • High School student volunteers needed! The Roots to Addiction, Inc. support group and the South Amboy ELKS Lodge will be partnering on October 6th to Knock Out Opioid abuse in our great city. Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day is a day dedicated to bringing awareness to our residents about opioid prescribing as well as any physician/dentist about the dangers of negligent prescribing. The groups are gathering volunteers to “hit the streets”. They have received 2000+ awareness door hangers that they will be hanging on household front doors, asking many of our local pizza delivery establishments to attach an awareness flyer on their pizza boxes that day, as well as dropping off information to any physician or dentist within our city limits. They hope to get enough volunteers to complete the entire city in one day. They are  extending the invite to volunteer to any of our high schoolers who may be in need of community service hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sat, 10/6/18. If you are interested, stop by the main office for information.

The boy’s team started out the year with a great performance in the division race by defeating 5 division rivals in one day, losing only to Middlesex by just 1 point. On Saturday at Thompson Park, the boys avenged their loss to Middlesex by dominating them by 10 points thanks to medal winning performances by senior captain Jack Lukie, Junior Abe Calderon, freshman star Rafael Albarran and rising freshman star Joe Jamolawicz. Other PRs this week were turned in by Gwen Kennedy, Charlie Smith and Jonathan Diaz. The boy’s team record now stands at 5-1 heading into the Six Flags Invitational this coming Saturday. Congratulations to the team on a great start to the season and good luck on Saturday.
