Dear Parents/Guardians: As we prepare for Monday, I want to ensure all parents are aware of the following:       *Your child's status,  Purple, Gold, or Virtual, is listed in Genesis and based on his/her placement from November.       *If you would like a change from that, you need to email your child's guidance counselor and you will receive a         reply in one business day as to whether or not the school can accommodate your request.       *If you wish to keep your child out of school and he/she was assigned to a Purple or Gold Day, that is fine; we          ask that you email the school. However, we cannot promise to hold the spot open and you will need to email          guidance if you wish to have your child receive in person (hybrid) instruction in the future. Please contact the school if you have any questions. Thank you, Dr. McCabe

Dear Parents/Guardians, Important happenings at the MHS: (Week of 2/22/2021) As you are aware, we will return to in person (hybrid) instruction on Monday, 3/1/2021. We will continue to follow the schedule that has been in place since the fall, see below. The below schedule will be used by all students, virtual/remote and in person.  Arrival 8:05 am to 8:13 am report to homeroom/period 1 Period 1  8:13 - 8:48 am Period 2  8:50 - 9:25 am Period 3  9:27 - 10:02 am Period 4  10-04 - 10:39 am Period 5  10:41 - 11:16 am Period 6  11:18 - 11:53 am Period 7  11:55 - 12:30 pm Period 8  12:32 - 1:07 pm Student Support 1:30 - 2:18 pm Monday, 3/1/2021, will be a Purple Day and the first day of in person instruction for all school students who will attend on Purple Days. Important: please see my brief presentation about student arrival! Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1V7mMuu2JOUxYqjySFauxAgpgiSMgHvDR16qrBxzRMoI/edit?usp=sharing Here is an outline of the arrival plan. *Middle School students should be dropped off by the middle school entrance and then walk to the auditorium entrance.  *High School students should be dropped off by the doors by our nurse’s office and enter the school there. *All students will be directed to the gymnasium for check in.  Students should arrive at 8:05 am, no earlier. Students should line up wearing masks and remain socially distant. There are marks on the ground by each door for students to line up on to ensure proper social distancing. Covid Questionnaires: these must be completed each day by parents using the Parent Portal. They can be completed very early in the morning; the form becomes available at midnight each day. Please complete before 7:30 am so our nurse has ample time to review them. Not doing so will result in a reminder notification going to your email and presents quite a challenge for our staff as we prepare each day. We will also not allow in-person students access to class until it is completed. Masks: all students must wear a mask covering the mouth and nose at all times. I recommend each student bring two extra masks in case one gets dirty, ripped or wet.Devices: any electronic devices being brought to the school should be charged at home. Parents Submitting Photos for the Yearbook: we have requested photos you might want to share from this year and some of you might have photos that were taken professionally and you will request to be in our yearbook. Please know we need all submissions by 3/12/2021. Anything submitted after that may not make it to the yearbook due to our production and submission deadlines with the yearbook company.6th and 7th grade Photos - for those who scheduled photos for their 6th or 7th grader on Monday or Tuesday of this week, please ensure he/she arrives on time, wears a mask, and has had the Covid questionnaire completed. Athlete Covid Testing: Please know there is no out-of-pocket fee.  The lab does charge the insurance, however, if the insurance does not cover the claim, then they charge it to the Cares Act Funding.  The social security is only needed if the individual does not have insurance.  If they do, then you can enter nine 9s in the SS field.  Again, there are no co-pays, or balance billing.   Some insurance companies send a check directly to the customer.  If this happens, then the check should be sent to the lab. Spring Athletics:  The spring registration portal is now open!!! To be eligible, students must: *Complete and submit an online registration for spring athletics. *Have a valid sports physical on file with Nurse Housman. (Note: Sport physicals need to be approved by our school physician once submitted.) *Complete and submit a COVID-19 Health History Update Form to Nurse Housman. *Be and remain in good academic and behavioral standing. *Early submission is highly recommended to allow for adequate processing time. If you have any questions regarding the above criteria, p

Dear Parents/Guardians: On Monday, March 1, 2021, we will return to in person (hybrid) instruction. We are excited to welcome the students back and hope we can finish the rest of the year in the building. We will be following the same entrance procedures, safety precautions, and schedule, Purple Days and Gold Days, as we did in the fall.  If you are uncertain as to the schedule your child has, simply log into Parent Access. Once in Parent Access, click on the tab "Student Data''. Once there, click on the tab "Summary." There you will see your child's information on the left. You will see one of three options below with a check mark:      Purple Day A in Person (Students attending on Purple Days will always go on Mondays and Wednesdays.)      Gold Day B in Person (Students attending on Gold Days will always go on Tuesdays and Thursdays.)      Virtual/Remote Learning from Home Only (Students will remain Virtual/Remote.)      Note: The Friday of each week will alternate with the first Friday, 3/5/2021, being Purple, the second Gold, etc. I           have attached a calendar for March with the Purple and Gold Days outlined. If you wish to request a change to your child's status, you are asked to email your child's guidance counselor. An example of a request to change would be if a child was Virtual/Remote Learning from Home Only and the parent wished he/she to have a hybrid schedule. Parent requests will be addressed on a case by case basis. Thank you, Dr. McCabe

Dear Parents/Guardians, Important happenings at the MHS:  The Website: our district website is up and running again. First Semester Honor Roll: please visit my earlier Principal’s page posting to view all of our honor roll achievers. Students of the Month for January: we reinstituted our student of the month program for 2021. These are students in each grade level that are selected based on character, school spirit, and academic integrity. For January, we are happy to announce our winners. See attached photo. Pictured in a virtual classroom setting are: From left to right: top row: N. Tavarez-Miranda (grade 12), J. Wells ( grade 9), S. Roessle (grade 6),  M. Thomas (grade 8). Bottom row: A. Carter (grade 10), D. Hortillas (grade 7), and C. Applegate (grade11). Students of the Month January 2021.jpg.pdf Athletic Event Live Streaming: As you are aware, we have secured live streaming for our athletic activities. The live streaming, at first, had a lot of technical issues. The company providing the service was able to address these issues last week. They have given our school a letter apologizing for the problems initially encountered. The company has agreed to refund anyone who has already subscribed for the service as well as provide the service free to our school community. In order to receive a refund, parents should contact the company directly; here is their email address: [email protected]. Parent/Teacher Conferences are set for 2/10/21 and 2/11/21; both will be short session days for our students. This is important: each teacher will send you an email for the virtual meeting by the end of the day on Monday, 2/8/21. The email will be sent to you, using the email address we have in Genesis, as well as your child’s school email address. The teacher will send you a Google Meet link in the email. You will click on that link at the date and time of the meeting using your child’s email address. Please do not use your own email address. Our system will only work with school email addresses. The link will allow you, in essence, to enter the teacher’s room. The teacher may have a meeting before yours and a meeting after. If you arrive early, the teacher will be notified, kind of like knocking on the door, but he/she will not allow you entrance until the specified time. Once he/she is available, you will be admitted to the meeting. Once your time is complete, each meeting is five minutes, you will leave to allow another parent to have his/her meeting with the teacher. There is a one minute break in between each meeting time. Submit Important Photos: please consider submitting photos that we can look to include on our yearbook. Any significant events such as the first virtual day of school, our first snow day of this year, or any other event that was meaningful and unique to this 2020-2021 school year. If you receive an email, please reply so the teacher knows you have read the email.
