The hem of the short or skirt should be even with or lower than a student's thumb when held to one's side. Some degree of discretion must be used when assessing this and should be on the side of  conservative. Administration will make the final decision if there is a question. Clothing should not be sheer, netted or in any way see through.   3. Undergarments should not be visible. All undergarments should be covered by a student's clothing.   4. Tank tops or sleeveless tops with straps may be worn but the top must fall reasonably close to the neckline, as judged by administration, and fall below the underarm to insure the torso and undergarments are not exposed inappropriately. All tops and bottoms must meet; bare midriffs are not permitted.   5. Straps on tops must be at least two fingers in width. No thin or spaghetti type straps.   6. Chains and gang related attire or anything that might be construed as gang-related attire is not permitted.   7. Hats, hoods and any type of head covering or head bands (bandannas) are not permitted. Dear Parents/Guardians Some important happenings at the MHS: As noted last week, tomorrow, 3/5/18, we will be monitoring closely the wearing of student identifications while in school. All students should have a school provided student identification. Some have lost theirs and were provided a temporary. These will be replaced with permanent identifications once the materials arrive. Please encourage your child to follow this simple security practice. School identifications should be worn with a lanyard around the neck or attached to one's belt with a clip. It is important they are displayed. Student Demonstrations: A message from the NJ Department of Education notes, “Students in various schools across the state have conducted or have called for walkouts to raise awareness regarding gun violence. Most notably, a national school walkout is currently being coordinated for March 14, 2018, to begin at 10 am and last for 17 minutes in remembrance of the 17 victims of the recent tragedy at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School.” In preparation for this date, MHS administration met with the student council on Friday and will do so again on Tuesday. Realizing walking out of school is neither safe nor secure, we asked students to consider how we as a school could safely and respectfully show solidarity with those who have experienced loss and also show our commitment to school safety. We are in the process of working with the student council to plan a student led assembly in school that will occur at 10:00 am on 3/14/18.  Benchmark testing begins this week. Please see online school calendar for dates. The Student Council will be conducting a food drive for Middlesex County Food Bank.  The drive will start on March 5 and end March 16.  Students bringing in 10 items will receive 1/2 hour of Community Service. Any support you can provide is appreciated.  Reminder: interims are available on Parent Access.
