Dear Parents/Guardians: Some important happenings at the MHS: (week of 4/29/19) 1) Parents of Freshmen and Sophomores: we are asking that your children bring in to school earbuds or headphones for the days of high school NJSLA testing. Those days are 4/30, 5/1, 5/9 and 5/10. Students are permitted to use their own earbuds or headphones during the assessment as directed; however, at all other times they should be put away. Dear Parents/Guardians, Our school will be administering the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) to all of our students in grades 6-10 after the spring break. I have included the schedule on the school calendar. It is important that all of our students participate. As our community is already aware, we are a Comprehensive School; a status assigned to us by the State of New Jersey over a year ago due to our assessment performance and participation being low, as well as our daily attendance being of concern. Last year, with your help, we improved both areas significantly. If it were not for all members of our community, staff, students, and parents, coming together, our school would not have experienced the positive growth. However, we are not done. This challenge continues this year as we strive to increase our school's performance, to improve the educational experience of our children, and ensure a bright future for our community.  This assessment, involving less time than assessments from prior years, is extremely important. We use the data to measure where our students are, where they need to be, and how we need to adjust our instruction to best serve them.  Please make certain your child gets a good night's sleep before each assessment. We need our students present, on time, and ready to give their best. That is all we ask. A reminder that any student not participating is scored as a failing grade by the State of New Jersey, each failing grade counts against our school. When you are a small community such as we are, every student, every grade is important. If you have any questions, please call the school so we can assist you. Sincerely, Patrick McCabe, Psy. D. Principal
