Dear Parents/Guardians and Athletes, Our school physician, Dr. McKenna, will be conducting sport physicals for the 20-21 school year. Physicals will take place at South Amboy MHS in Nurse Houman's Office during the following dates and times: Wednesday August 12, 2020 from 2:30 - 4:30 pm Wednesday August 26, 2020 from 2:30 - 4:30 pm. There will be a few changes this year due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We will be following appropriate CDC recommendations, which include social distancing, face coverings, temperature checks and health screening. The exam room must be disinfected after each student's physical. Our compliance with all CDC recommendations will require additional time. Therefore, we must limit the number of students to a maximum of 6 per hour (or 12 per day) and require all students to pre-register by emailing Nurse Housman at [email protected] for the athletic physicals. We cannot accept any "walk-ins." Due to the limited number of students who can be seen by Dr. McKenna we strongly recommend that students who have a regular family doctor/pediatrician see their current provider. In this way, priority can be given to students who do not have medical insurance or who are experiencing financial hardship. In the event that fall athletics are cancelled, we will keep these dates for winter and spring sports. If you have any further questions please email Mr. Zalocki at [email protected] or Nurse Housman at [email protected] Best, Mr. Zalocki, VP/AD

Dear Parents, I hope this email finds you and your family well. As we are all aware, the school closure we had this year took away a lot of our students' enjoyable school experiences. We all wish that were not the case.  As principal, I was grateful for the community coming together and celebrating our graduating students with lawn signs, our seniors with banners in town and the concerted effort that resulted in two ceremonies on June 19, 2020: one for our 8th grade and another for our 12th. There were two other events we wanted to have happen: our Eighth Grade Formal and our Prom.  We took steps to postpone these events; our Prom was rescheduled twice. Our last effort was to use Frog Hollow as an outdoor venue for our Formal and Prom; however, we have encountered a problem. While Governor Murphy has increased the size of outside gatherings, these events must still follow the six foot social distancing mandate as well as all present wearing masks; again, in keeping with the mandates. We have consulted with the local and state Offices of Emergency Management. Given the status of our state and the recent concerns the Governor announced regarding outdoor venues, we do not believe a dance for our students, even at Frog Hollow, is in their best interests. We are most concerned about their overall well-being as well as that of the entire community. Please know the administration was hoping these events could happen for our children. Unfortunately the present circumstances, keeping with the Governor's mandates and ensuring our students' well-being, prevent us from doing so. Thank you, Dr. McCabe
