Parents/Guardians, We begin this week! We are all aware that Thursday is our first day of school for students with a prompt 8:13 am start. Some things to do this week: *Monday, if you requested one, please pick up your Chromebook. Note: the district has requested that each family        borrowing a Chromebook provide a check/cash in the amount of $25.00 to insure the Chromebook. If you have            multiple children and your family is borrowing multiple Chromebooks, it is still only $25.00 total for the family.            Families on free/reduced lunch will have the fee waived. We also have a payment plan option for parents.         *Wednesday: please follow the directions I shared in my weekly email to help get your child logged in to all of              his/her Google Classrooms.  *We include directions to allow parents to become guardians in Google Classroom; it is at the end of the document with the directions for Google Classroom. On Thursday our teachers will assist each student to sign his/her parents up for this. Then, you will be sent an email invite to the email address we have registered with Parent Access. If you accept the invite, you will be able to view a summary of your child’s progress (submitted assignments) in Google Classroom. Once you become a guardian for one class you will be a guardian in all of his/her classes. *Reminder: students in grades 7-12 received email invites to orientations being held on Thursday.            *Ask for help:to some of us in the community, navigating through Google Classroom might be challenging; we are        here to help you. Reach out to a teacher, counselor or administrator if you need assistance; we enjoy helping.           *Parents/Guardians of Athletes: please be familiar with the NJSIAA Fall Covid 19 Guidelines. I shared them in           my weekly email.          *Contacting the school: please use email as your main source of contact when reaching out to the school.           *Check email: please check your email often. Emailing is how we will reach out to you most of the time.           *Check Parent Access: please check your child’s progress in Genesis regularly and email his/her teachers if you           have any questions.           If you need assistance, please reach out so we can assist you.           Thank you,           Dr. McCabe

Dear Parents/Guardians, As we prepare for the first day of school on 9/3/2020, we would like to provide you with some important information: 1) Parents who requested Chromebooks via the online Re-Entry Application will be able to pick them up on Monday, 8/31/2020, from the MHS main office as follows:           9:00 am to 10:00 am for grade 6           10:00 am to 11:00 am for grade 7           11:00 am to 12:00 pm for grade 8           12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for grades 9 and 10            1:00 pm to 2:00 pm for grades 11 and 12           Attached to my email today, please find a copy of the Parent/Student Agreement form that must be completed            and submitted when picking up a Chromebook. This form along with payment in cash or check of $25.00 per           Chromebook should be submitted at the time of pick up. Checks can be made out to the South Amboy Board of           Education. If you do not print, sign and date the form ahead of time, we will have blank copies at the school.           For pickup: if weather allows we may be set up outside the MHS main entrance. If not, we will distribute with           parents entering our foyer, one at a time, and exchange paperwork, payment and Chromebooks using our           drawer.           While on school property, we ask that everyone wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing. 2) The first day of school, 9/3/2020, will begin at 8:13 am virtually. That is when homeroom/first period for all students begins. Students are required to sign in to each class period on time; just as if they were attending class in school. 3) On 9/3/2020, all students in grades 7 through 12 will have a virtual orientation meeting with administration that afternoon scheduled as follows: (All students have had the appropriate Google invite sent to their school email address)           Grade 7 at 1:00 pm            Grade 8 at 1:00 pm            Grade 9 at 1:20 pm           Grade 10 at 1:20 pm           Grade 11 at 1:40 pm            Grade 12 at 1:40 pm    4) Attached to my earlier email please find helpful information from our Local YMCA and the Dowdell Library about their program offerings. 5) If you have not already, please find your child’s schedule using Parent Access via Genesis. On Wednesday, 9/2/2020, you and your child can use the schedule to find all of his/her teachers. Then please go to our school website and locate each of your child’s teachers’ pages. There you will find a tab titled, “Google Classroom Codes.” These codes will be used to allow your child access to each of his/her classes. If you have any questions, please email us at the school. Thank you, Dr. McCabe

Dear Parents/Guardians and Athletes, This a reminder for those interested in fall sports to register as soon as possible. Please see the "Athletic Registration" tab for application details. Here is the link for the tab: http://mhs.sapublicschools.com/athletics/athletic_registration We are in need of athletes for all fall sports. Students registering for a sport late can impact the number of athletes needed to have a sports program/team this fall. If we do not have enough interest, we cannot support the athletic activity. The first, at 900 am, is for students with last names beginning with letters A-L. The second orientation, at 10:00 am, is for students with last names beginning with letters M-Z. The easiest way to log on will be to have your child access his/her school account. We will also have a Kahoot game at the end of the orientation for all students. Most will be familiar with this game. The easiest way is for them to access Kahoot will be to use their cell phones and go to Kahoot.it ,  unless they have the app.  Below please find the Google Meet information for Tuesday: Sixth Grade Orientation for Students with Last Names A-L at 9:00 am Meeting ID meet.google.com/yxn-cxnt-fak Sixth Grade Orientation for Students with Last Names M-Z at 10:00 am Meeting ID meet.google.com/cgu-tkwr-kzu I ask that students mute themselves as soon as they log on; otherwise it will get too loud.
