Newark Museum Traveling ExhibitionThe Newark Museum Education Loan Collection is a teaching resource which includes over 15,000 three-dimensional objects housed in boxes with accompanying labels, sixteen distinct collections that support art, social studies (U.S. and world history) and natural and physical science core content areas, and a selection of resource and activity guides and media materials to integrate teaching with objects into your classroom curriculum.Students can actually hold a treasure in their hands with objects  borrowed from the museum.This event is organized and managed by Mr. Lawrence V. Ghezzi, Media Specialist. The  schedule will be announced.Scholastic Book FairThe next  Scholastic Student Exchange Book Fairs in the South Amboy Middle/High School Media Center will be February 6 through February 10, 2017.In addition to a wonderful array of affordable books, we will have contests, gift certificate, drawings and give-aways.Book sales benefit the Media Center and enables us to increase our selection of current reading materials for your students.The Book Fair, chaired by Lawrence V. Ghezzi, Media Specialist, enlists the services of the National Junior Honor Society students to staff the Fair under the advisement and supervision of Mr. Ghezzi..The Scholastic Book Fair will accept VISA, MasterCArd, American Express and Discover cards, as well as debit cards with VISA or MasterCard logos on them.To learn more about the Scholastic Student Exchange Book Fair, log onto www.scholastic.com/bookfairs.Guest Speaker EngagementDoug Baron, an author and illustrator of a series of comic books entitled Sugar Ray Finhead  will be giving a 90-minute presentation on to be announced. Mr. Baron is an instructor for the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art, Hunterdon Museum of Art, and Somerset Art Association. For many years now, he has provided cartooning workshops for numerous libraries throughout New Jersey. Since 1992, he has published his own comic book entitled, Sugar Ray Finhead. His work is available for review at www.jumpbackproductions.com. Also, he provides CD covr art for a company called: Gotham music www.firstcom.com (under Gotham), as well as T-shirt designs for a comapny called firststringtshirts.com.In addition, he has created full color newspaper illustratrations for the Asbury Park Press and the Daily Record.
