6th Grade Homework for the Week of 06/11
Monday through Wednesday: Students will continue to work on their Chapter 9:The New Republic Begins study guide, which is due on Quarterly Exam day. A PDF copy of the study guide can be found in the Digital Documents tab in the 6th Grade Folder.

*Tuesday-At the end of the period we will check questions 9-11 and Definitions numbers 1-5

6th Grade Homework for the Week of 06/04

Monday-Wednesday: Day 1 of the debate will be on Tuesday and Day 2 will be on Thursday.

1. Groups will make sure that opening statement, reasons for their political beliefs, five questions to ask the opposing party, three props.
2. Students will practice reading opening statements, decide who will ask each question, and practice debating.
3. All of the above goals should be worked on for homework too throughout the week.

7th Grade Homework for the Week of 06/04
Monday-Friday: Students will work on the following two assignments during the week.
1. Tall Tales:Compare and Contrast reflection sheet-Students will watch the movie Tall Tale:The Unbelievable Adventure. As students watch the film, they will answer the three questions using their prior knowledge from their American Folktales project and the movie. 
2. Students will start to work on their Quarterly 4 study guide, which is due on Quarterly Exam day. A PDF copy of the study guide can be found in the Digital Documents tab in the 7th Grade Folder. 


6th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/28

Monday: No School- Memorial Day
Tuesday-Friday: Students will begin to work on the Rise of Political Party Debate project (This packet has been uploaded to the 6th Grade Folder in the Digital Documents tab). 

1. Finishing researching their facts/reasons to support their party’s position on their debate topic.
2. Students will take these facts/reasons to create a rough copy of their opening statement for each topic. Rough opening statements will be due on Thursday.  
3. Groups need to create five questions to ask the opposing political party regarding their debate topic. This will be due on Friday.
4. Groups need to create three props for each debate topic. These props will be due on Monday. 5. All of the above goals should be worked on for homework too throughout the week.

7th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/28
Monday
: No School- Memorial Day
Tuesday-Thursday
: Students will be working on their American Folktales project in class and for homework. Projects are due on Friday June 1st. Students should complete/work the following.
1. Finish creation of their group project-It may be a play, movie trailer, song, etc. 2. Groups should practice presenting their project.

3. Students can start working on their five paragraph Folktales Reflection essay. Students can find information about essay on the project sheet located in the 7th Grade Folder in the Digital Documents. Essays are due on Friday June 1st.
Friday: Work on Instagram Museum Assignment

6th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/21
Monday
: Whiskey Rebellion written reflection: What do you think might have happened if President Washington had not taken strong action to put down the Whiskey Rebellion? Students will write a written reflection over ten sentences. Students should include specific results and explanations for why you think that this could happen in their written reflection.
Tuesday: French Revolution written reflection: Students will write an A/B reflection (A-side believes that the U.S. should support French and B-side U.S. should not) on whether the U.S. should support the French Revolution.  Students will use their Viva La Revolution notes to find three facts that support their position on the U.S. support of the French Revolution.
Wednesday: Washington's Farewell Address written reflection: Students pick one of Washington’s advice they thought was the most important for the U.S. to follow. They will use Washington’s Farewell address to support their opinions. Thursday-Friday: Students will begin to work on the Rise of Political Party Debate project (This packet has been uploaded to the 6th Grade Folder in the Digital Documents tab). Students will break up their political parties into debate topics that they will need to research. Information will be explained in class on Thursday and in the debate packet. 

7th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/21
Monday-Friday: Students will be working on their American Folktales project in class and for homework. Projects are due on Thursday May 31st. Students should complete/work the following.
1. Students need to complete their Folktale Character's research topics 1-3.
2. Groups will need to pick a medium to present their Folktale.
3. Students will need to equally divide jobs in the project creation.
4. Students can start working on their five paragraph Folktales Reflection essay. Students can find information about essay on the project sheet located in the 7th Grade Folder in the Digital Documents. Essays are due on Thursday May 31st.

 

6th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/14
Monday-Tuesday: Vocab 9 Builder reflection sheet-Students have had this assignment since Friday May 11th. Students can use their textbook glossary in Google Classroom to complete this assignment. 
Wednesday and Thursday: Presidential Cabinet reflection packet (Students had time in class to work on this assignment on Monday May 14th) and A Nation in Debt reflection sheet (Had time in class to work on Wednesday 05/16). Students need to highlight/underline textual evidence in the reading that helped them answer the questions. 
Friday: No Homework

7th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/14

Monday-Tuesday: Students will be working on their American Folktales project using their Folktales informational packet (These packets will be uploaded to the 7th Grade Folder in the Digital Documents tab soon). Students will be doing initial research for each Folktale. For all the characters (Except Johnny Appleseed) they will read the source and underline/highlight five aspects/facts that entices them to pick that Folk character  for their project. For Johnny Appleseed source, students will read the poem and answer the two questions. Students will need to underline/highlight textual evidence in the source that helps them answer all the questions. Students will need to put all their research and answers on a separate sheet of paper. Highlighting and underlining the source is not enough. They need to write it out in full sentences on a separate sheet of paper. I will be checking their research in class on Wednesday for a Grade.
Wednesday through Friday: Students will pick their Folktale Character and begin researching the four required research components. Groups will equally divide the research in preparation for creating their Folktales project.

6th Grade Homework for the Week of 05/07
Monday
1. Students will continue to work on their Constitution study guide, which is due on Friday May 11th. A PDF copy of the study guide can be found in the Digital Documents tab in the 6th Grade Folder. 
2. In addition, they will pre-write three reasons and explanations for their essay question. Students will need to take the position should only natural born citizens run for president or should natural born and naturalized citizens be able to run for president. Students will need three facts and short explanation for each fact in preparation to write their rough draft. 
3. Extra help available Tuesday through Thursday this week after school till 3:15 pm. 
Tuesday
1.Students will continue to work on their Constitution study guide, which is due on Friday May 11th. 
2. Students will need to write a rough copy for their exam essay in preparation for peer editing in class on Wednesday. We have completed a similar essay for homework about two weeks ago.
Wednesday-Thursday
1.Students will continue to work on their Constitution study guide, which is due on Friday May 11th.
2. Students will need to write their final copy for their test essay, which is due on Friday May 11th their test day.
Friday: Vocab Builder 9 reflection sheet due Wednesday May 16th. If students finish their test early, they will have time to complete this assignment today.

2. In addition, they will pre-write three reasons and explanations for their essay question. Students will need to take the position they 
are a settler that is going out West during the late 1800’s. What profession would drive you to move West? Would you be a miner, cowboy/rancher, soldier, store owner, or a farmer? What are three reasons and explanations that solidified your choice? Students will need three facts and short explanation for each fact in preparation to write their rough draft.

: Students started Constitutional Debate: Mr. Wohlt’s Masterpiece Theater Counting Slaves, Commerce, and slave trade reflection sheets in class today. Tuesday:
Students started Adding a Bill of Rights reflection sheet in class today. Students will use their textbook pages 206-209 and a copy of the Bill of Rights to complete this assignment.
Wednesday: Bill of Rights Review reflection Sheet
Thursday: Quarterly 3 Exam will be based on the Chapter 7 Study Guide. A copy of the study guide can be found in the 6th Grade Folder of the Digital Documents section. Tonight's homework is to pre-write for the test essay question for the Chapter 7 Study Guide. Students will need to pick three rights protected under the Bill of Rights (First Ten Amendments of the Constitution). Students are limited to only one right protected under the First Amendment to be used in their essay. The reason for this is to expand and explore their rights beyond the very important First Amendments rights. Students will need to write down the Amendment where that right comes from. In addition, students will need to write a short two sentence explanation for why they picked each right. Students will share their rights and explanations during our group brainstorming session.     
Friday: Quarterly 3 Exam Study Guide- Rough copy will be due on Wednesday March 21 to be peer edited in class.

  • Prepare for the first day of Debate on Tuesday February 20th and second day of Debate on Wednesday February 21st.
    Individual Group Debate Cheat sheets are due on second day of the Wednesday February 21st. 
  • Divide Pre-Civil War Debate Group Evaluation using a Google Form: Form will be uploaded to Google Classroom on Wednesday February 21st. This assessment will be graded as a Summative assignment and is due on Monday February 26th. Students will assess themselves and their group members in the four aspects of the project such as research, participation in making questions and slogans, debate participation, and overall feedback. For the overall feedback section for themselves and their group members, students will need to give specific examples of either positive or negative examples of contributions to the project. What did Mr. Wohlt not see?

Thursday: War Begins reflection sheet: Students will need to compare two editorials one from the South and one from the North. Students will write a paragraph picking the editorial that described the roles played by extremists in creating hostilities that led to the Civil War. Students will highlight or underline three pieces of evidence from editorial that support and explain their editorial choice.  
Friday: Divide Pre-Civil War Debate Group Evaluation using a Google Form: Form will be uploaded to Google Classroom on Wednesday February 21st. This assessment will be graded as a Summative assignment and is due on Monday February 26th.

6th Grade Homework for the Week of 02/12
Monday: Comparing Two Points of View: The Battle of Yorktown reflection sheet- Please highlight or underline all textual evidence in reading that helps answer the questions. In addition, write all answers on a separate sheet of paper in full and complete sentences using textual evidence.
Tuesday: American Ally Search reflection sheet-We will work on this in class on Tuesday in cooperative partners. The Chapter sections have been uploaded to Google Classroom. In addition, the Heroes and Heroines of the American Revolution plates will be uploaded to the Digital Documents 6th Grade Folder on Tuesday.
Wednesday: Treaty of Paris 1783 Essay Brainstorming-Look over the three parts of the Treaty of Paris 1783 from today's notes. Write down three aspects that you would either keep or change about the treaty. Your three parts can be a mix and match of keep and change. It doesn't have to be all change or all keep from the original treaty. Write down a short explanation for each why you would either keep or change that part. Brainstorming will be checked on Thursday 02/15.
Thursday and Friday: Chapter 5/6 Study Guide-Test will be on Friday February 23rd! The study guide has been uploaded to the Digital Documents 6th Grade Folder. We will be working on the study guide in class Tuesday(02/20), Wednesday(02/21), and Thursday(02/22). Students should work on study guide, rough copy, and final copy for homework each day. 7th Grade Homework for the Week of 02/12 Monday through Wednesday: A Country Divided: Pre-Civil War Debate project-Students will have class time to complete all the daily assignments, and will be homework if not completed in class.   • Monday: Need to complete final Opening Statement. Students will need to use their group facts to create an opening statement that outlines your side's position on your topic.
  • Tuesday: Need to create a minimum of five well thought out facts.
  • Wednesday: Need to create a minimum of three props or slogans to support your topic.

Thursday and Friday: Prepare for the first day of Debate on Tuesday February 20th. Individual Group Debate Cheat sheets are due on second day of the Wednesday February 21st.

Tuesday: Understanding the Declaration of Independence (This side was started in class and is homework if it wasn't finished) and Declaration of Independence Puzzle- Please highlight or underline all textual evidence in reading that helps answer the questions.

Wednesday through Friday: Battles of the American Revolution Battles Graphic Organizer Chart-We will work on this in class from Wednesday through Friday in cooperative partners. The Chapter sections have been uploaded to Google Classroom. Wednesday night's homework should be dedicated to reading over and becoming familiar with pages 179-193. This assignment will be checked in class on Monday February 12th for a Summative grade. Monday: John Brown Guided Questions reflection sheet- Please use Documents A and B in packet to complete the assignment. Please highlight or underline all textual evidence in reading that helps answer the questions.

Tuesday: Election, Secession, and War reflection packet B. Student Exercises Questions 1-3- Please highlight or underline all textual evidence in reading that helps answer the questions.

Wednesday: Students will need to read over A Country Divided: Pre-Civil War Debate project sheet. Students need to bring any project questions to Thursday's class when we discuss the project and divide the groups. A Country Divided: Pre-Civil War Debate project sheet will be uploaded into 7th Grade Digital Document folder on Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday: A Country Divided: Pre-Civil War Debate project-Students will need to research individual group topic and create facts to support your side's position on that topic. Students will need to use these facts to create an opening statement that outlines your side's position on your topic.
