Homework for the Week of October 1, 2018

English - Pd. 3
During this spooky month of October, when we celebrate all things that go bump in the night, our class will read a short story from Edgar Allan Poe called The Black Cat.  We will also read other spine-tingling selections, for example: Frankenstein and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Read more about Edgar Allan Poe's life and written works online, to be discussed in class.
Reminder: Any assignments not finished in class should be completed at home, and returned to class the next day.

Life Science - Pd. 6
We are exploring more details of cells, such as active transport and passive transport. We will learn how cells have two ways of moving large particles; endocytosis and exocytosis.
Google the above underlined words with your parent or sibling.  Practice saying aloud each vocabulary word, and discuss what these parts of the cells do.

Earth Science - Pd. 7:
We are studying plate tectonics.  Google these topics, and share a printout of what you found with the class.

BOTH science classes planted seeds in plastic pots and will watch them grow in the classroom.  Students will take the plants home when they are a large sized.  Next, we will plant mini-watermelon seeds!
