What's Happening at the MHS??? (4)
Dear Parents/Guardians

Some important happenings at the MHS:
  • As noted last week, tomorrow, 3/5/18, we will be monitoring closely the wearing of student identifications while in school. All students should have a school provided student identification. Some have lost theirs and were provided a temporary. These will be replaced with permanent identifications once the materials arrive. Please encourage your child to follow this simple security practice. School identifications should be worn with a lanyard around the neck or attached to one's belt with a clip. It is important they are displayed.
  • Student Demonstrations: A message from the NJ Department of Education notes, “Students in various schools across the state have conducted or have called for walkouts to raise awareness regarding gun violence. Most notably, a national school walkout is currently being coordinated for March 14, 2018, to begin at 10 am and last for 17 minutes in remembrance of the 17 victims of the recent tragedy at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School.” In preparation for this date, MHS administration met with the student council on Friday and will do so again on Tuesday. Realizing walking out of school is neither safe nor secure, we asked students to consider how we as a school could safely and respectfully show solidarity with those who have experienced loss and also show our commitment to school safety. We are in the process of working with the student council to plan a student led assembly in school that will occur at 10:00 am on 3/14/18.

  •  Benchmark testing begins this week. Please see online school calendar for dates.
  • The Student Council will be conducting a food drive for Middlesex County Food Bank.  The drive will start on March 5 and end March 16.  Students bringing in 10 items will receive 1/2 hour of Community Service. Any support you can provide is appreciated.
  • Reminder: interims are available on Parent Access.
  • The musical, "The Little Mermaid" is coming! The performers are getting ready. Dates are: 3/9, 3/10 and 3/11. Please contact the school or Mrs. Stratton directly for tickets.
  • PTO Middle School Dance on 3/15/18. Permission slips and money are due by Friday, 3/9/18.
  • There will be a short session day on 3/16/18 to allow for staff in-service training.
  • PTO meeting the evening of 3/21/18.
  • Parents of Juniors: please keep the evening of 3/28/18 available. There will be a junior night with our guidance department. It should prove very helpful. More details to follow shortly.
