Summer Assignments
Posted on 06/25/2018
Dear Parent/Guardian(s),

I hope this  finds you all well as you prepare for the excitement each end of the school year brings and make plans for the summer months. I am writing to share with you information regarding this year’s Summer Reading and Math Assignments.

Although the summer is time for us to take a step back and relax, it is also a great time for your child to practice what he/she has learned throughout the school year. Both teachers and educational research have identified summer learning loss as a major challenge when starting the new school year. However, students who engage in continuing to practice these skills and strategies over the summer return to school ready to continue their learning with little or no learning loss.

The summer assignments are meant to be enjoyable and we do not want students to have to struggle. The enclosed summer reading lists are meant to provide the students with an entry point for September. The enclosed summer math assignment is meant to help students continue to improve in areas that may have been an issue during the school year.

Each assignment will count towards two formative assessment grades for the 1st Marking Period. Students are requested to have the assignments completed and turned in before Friday, September 14, 2018, to receive credit for their work, with the execption of the High School English students who will be writing a literary analysis in class on Monday September 10, 2018.

Sincerely,

Dr. Patrick McCabe
Principal
